I just recently bought my 77 vette and I am fairly sure it has telescopic steering. It has the little nub sticking up behind the horn button that I can move to the left or right, but I can't get the wheel to move. Is there something I am missing or do you think that it could just be stuck?

could be the adjustment is too tight under the steering wheel. if you have the shop manual it will show you where it is.

Don't know about yours, but when I replaced my steering wheel mine didn't telescope because it was missing two little screws. Maybe pull the horn button off and see if you can see two tiny screws in the mechanism.

Yup , turn it one way and it suposed to lock in place, turn it the other way and it is suppose to unlock travel in and out about 2 in. maybe a little more. the small screws under the horn are for the adjustment of the ring to allow it to tighten and loosen in a quarter of a turn. Be careful, the horn contact is just under this stuff.
The adjustment "nib" as you call it, is connected to this star screw.
Remove the screws holding the adjustment ring to the screw.
Loosen the screw until the column will collapse, then slowly tighten until you get the range from movable to not-movable that you need. You may need to remove the ring and tighten the screw a bit and then put it back on.
