Good news and bad news.  Just got home a while ago from a wonderful weekend trip to NH.  Drove via Conn, Vermont, NH then on to Mass and back home tonight which was a total of 750 mile, GREAT.  The bad news, when I got to NH and off the exit, no brakes good thing no one was in front of me.  Stopped at the local NPA and picked up some brake fluid to add and guess what, it did not need any.  So you know I was on pins and needles for the entire weekend and when I left this morning, what do you know, it was raining.  So the trip home was a little rough, but I made it without incident.  I guess I will have to bleed the brakes next weekend or if anyone else have any further info on this problem. 

What did you do to get the brakes back?

Ken I pumped it a couple of times and the light went off, but it was still soft.  

I carry a bleeder wrench in all my C3's all the time...along with a bottle of oil and brake fluid...

EVERY spring I have to bleed the brakes ..but at home I use a pressure bleeder...in fact the 79 is on the lift right now so I can check the calibers.. one(if not more)  is/are sucking air big time...

Have no idea how you drove it all those miles...I had a heck of a time moving the the 79 from one garage to the other to get it on the lift... there is a slight difference in NO brakes and BAD Brakes...

It sounds like you need to check the rotor runout. I had this problem that I had to bleed my brakes about every 500 mi. They would get mushy, the brake light would come on indicating the proportional valve would set and I would only have front brakes. I had to get a dial indicator, place it up to the brake rotors to measure the runout. I used pieces of a beer can for shims behind the rotor. excesive rotor runout out causes the calipers to suckin air over a period of time. if this seems to fit your problem I could email an article on this subject.
