Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
I'm running GY GT2's. No obvious problems that I can mention. About the only thing I don't like is the white lettering just doesn't stand out enough for my tastes. But hey, they were a birthday present from the wife, so who can complain!?

Thanks for all the great advise. |thumb| It looks like BFG T/A has the largest following. It is important to hear from other folks with the same type car, because certain tire brands run better on certain cars. |saluteflag|

I manage a Goodyear store & I don't even like the GT II's. Has anyone had the Kelly Chargers? I used to run them on an older Mustang I had & loved them. I know they're available in the 255/60/15 'cause I've already put them in stock for when I need mine. Bfg T/A is nice too tho, had a pair of 295/50/15 on the rear of a '79 Chevy van w/ 235/60/15 up front.

Just put BFG 255/60/15 on. Seem good so far. Only problem is I found that the lower control arm bushings are shot. One missing and one barely in. Well as long as I'm having the lowers replaced, I guess it is time for the uppers. Well as long as I'm replacing the uppers and lowers, I guess I'll replace all 4 ball joints. Well I was already planning on putting in new shocks this weekend, I guess its a good time to do it. Well there was those front wheel bearings that had a little play in them, alright, alright, I'll repack those also. Hey when does this end.... I'm havin a ball, spending way more than I should, and my wife is about to put me and the vette out the door. |biggrin| |saluteflag|

As long as you and the vette get put out together you're fine.

Had a set of Kelly radials on a '83 Toyota Supra years ago (don't remember if they were Chargers or not) and they were the BEST! They weren't an all-season tire but I never felt out of control during the many Minnesota winters that I ran them.

Just had the BFGoodrichs mounted balanced lifetime this and that for $305.50. WOW. What a difference. Changed over for the original GY polysteels. BFG's get my vote. |thumb|

FYI - I've heard from several sources that the Dunlaps are prone to hyderplaning as mentioned earlier in this thread.

has anyone checked out YOKO's AVID S/T's? They spec out the same as TA's and Dunlop and survey and review alot better both wet and dry.
Current price is 57.00 (255-60-15) at Tire Rack. I ordered a set for my 89 T-Bird which has pretty much the same suspension as our vetts have.If they look
and handle good I'am going to consider a set for the vette |headscratch| |idea|

I looked at the Yokohamas and was close to pulling the trigger when a buddy of mine asked if I wanted to drive around a classic American car with a Japanese name on it...oh yeah...

Probably a superior product, but I just couldn't do it. I settled for Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. Looks great, good American name (still built in Japan). |biggrin|

They are excellent tires for my driving conditions.

David
