The Grand Buba (Joel) is right again Thumbs%20Up. While catching up on my Corvette Enthusiast there was an article on tires. The writer stated, " That the tire pressure on the sidewalls are for max capacity, and since it's highly unlikely the we will ever load the car to max, we should go with the car's owners manual suggestion".
I'm going to try 24 in the front, and 26 in the rear. What the heck, for the little amount of miles on put on the car I should be able to see any damage occurring in time to go back to 30/33 Pressure.

Vette(s): 73 coupe bought new in 1973 with only luggage rack, AM/FM radio, HD battery & Maplight as options. L48, 4 speed, Paint Med Met Blue 922 interior Dark saddle 418 special order. Repurchased 4/1/06 after 24 years.
I bought my 73 new in May of 73 and ran 20 PSI on those Firestone 500's.  The car handled great, and I took it up to 130mph many times.  I liked the firestones better than the BF Goodrich TA radials I put on after I wore out the Firestones at 45k miles.  The only time I upped the pressure is if I was out to push the handleing on twisty roads.  Then I would run 24psi.

I know this may be an insult to even metion, but many old Beetles used 19 psi in the front and 26 in the rear.  Odd by it worked well.

My 28 psi may wear the center due to the loading of the tire, the center may bulge out due to the higher pressures.    I would have no problems setting the pressure at 20 or 24.  I only run a bit higher due to my oddities.  It does ride worse, but corners a bit better.  I have acutally been considering trying 24 for a while and see how I like it. but that will wait for spring time.

ok, while on the topic, what about all the hype I'm hearing lately about using Nitrogen in tires?

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
