I just pulled these up on the Discount Tire website and found them for $67 a tire. This would be a good starting point for you if there is a Discount Tire close to your area.

I went with B.F. Goodrich Radial TA's on my 73. Its been a couple years, but purchased them online from TireRack http://www.tirerack.com and had them mounted and balanced locally.

I have to agree the T/A's are a good tire. Have had them on 4 vehicles now, including my Vette. Got the last 2 sets at Quick Lane. They have sales where you can buy tires for $5.00 over cost. The last set cost me $68.00 each, plus they mount for free. It did cost for the balancing, but they also have free tire repair if you bought the tires from them.
Pretty good deal on a good tire.

The difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys!!
Hi - i have a 79 with the optional 255/60-15s in BFGs. Anybody know what GM recommended for tire pressures. My original manual says to use what is on the door sticker, which has faded to where I can't read it. I know it list two pressures for normal & economy. Any help would be appreciated.
Right now I am guessing at about 26 pounds on each corner.

I have BFG's on my '78 and they're rated at 35 psi maximum cold pressure. I would stay at least 30-32 psi for a balance of traction and good tire wear. If you're going on a trip or sustained highway driving, I would stay at the upper end.
With good balance and alignment, what wears tires out more than anything is heat. An underinflated tire builds up excess heat as well as wears the outer edge excessively. Excess heat also contributes to blowouts.
