Blew the front-driver tire yesterday on I-75 going north at about exit 240 (just in case any of you saw me on the side of the road waiting for a towing). I felt the wabble at about 115, so I slowed down to 70 and to the right lane. 2 seconds later; BAM! It was pretty hard to control and I was surrounded by other cars. Everything turned out allright.
Anyway; when I got it back at the garage, I wrote down what I currently have, thinking of going online and getting 1 replacement. (BTW, the other tires are not too bad. The one that blew had a problem with the valve bushing and I should have fixed it before going that fast on the highway. Shame on me.).
I currently have GoodYear Eagle GT II, P255/60R15 in the back and P235/60R15 in the front. I also know from the previous owner that I have fake rally wheels.
I did some search online (tirerack.com has a nice feature where you can see what it would look like...) and then I searched the past threads over here.
There's one thing I don't know; what is supposed to be the original rims size and tire size ?
I will most likely replace with 16" rims. Any thoughts on 16" tires ?

The stock rim is 15"x8". The important thing about other sizes is to make sure the overall diameter is the same as the stock size tire/rim combination.
There's a much bigger selection of performance tires in 16", 17" and above than 15" now. That seems to be where the market is now.

I went with 16" BFG T/A Traction Radials when I upgraded the wheels on "The Toy". I really like the ride and handling but probably should have gone up to 17s as the tire selection is even better (more to choose from). I'll get the tire size tonite and update this.
Just keep in mind, the larger rims mean a smaller sidewall.
They handle better, but ride worse. Take your choice.
Can you go with a 41/2" backspace on the rims? I have offset t/a in the rear and there seems to be a bigger selection with 4.5s than 4.0s.

Hello, I have a 75 coupe and want to change wheels. What is the actual wheel size I know 15 x 8 is the backspace 4' ? There are 15 x 8 AR slotted wheels on car now wityh a 4" bksp.
Thanks, ACE
