Hey Ken, what did you discover in your research that led you to the Indy's? Advantages over the TA's?

I also researched and found the Firestone 500 firehawk to be slightly better tire. Go to tire rack and compare. I've had my firestones on the vette for a few months now and have driven a few hundred miles on them. They gave the car awhole different feel and they're not that expensive. I had dunlops before & they were terrible...felt like I was on ice all the time.

I also want to get tires this year, I just want to make sure they will fit on my 71 big block. How tight a fit are the 255/60/15's? Do they rub anytime? I don't want to get tires mounted on my rims and then come home and put them on the car and they don't fit.

BFG's here too.  I went with 245's.  didn't want to worry about rubbing.

I have 255/60/15 BFG on mine. With the stock wheels I never had a problem rubbing. When I changed over to the TTII's, I get a rub when I turn to lock. I just avoid going to lock now. Which is not really a problem anyway.

Got my BFG's from Summit. Delivered by Fedex in a few days and on the wheels and rolling by the weekend.

Hey all, the 255/60/15 are the optional tire from the factory for the '82. They do not rub (at least on my '82) I don't know about other years, but don't believe Chevy would have changed anything just to get this tire to fit in '82.

didn't Chevy shave the inside of the wheel well to accommodate the larger tire?  at least on some years?

Chevy didn't start making 60 series tires available on Vettes until the '78 model year. There were some changes to the fenderwells so there would be no clearance problems. Prior to '78 all C3's came with 70 series rubber recommended. Not that you can't put 60 series on them (and plenty of people have), but it's a car by car thing whether there will be any clearance issues. It may even be more of an issue of the wider tires throwing stones and debris against the sides of the body more than rubbing on the interior of the fenderwell.

As I said previously, I have 60 series BFG Radial T/A's on my '78 and I keep 70 series on my '69 as I don't want any problems (Cooper Touring tires on that).
