Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
Don't know if this will help, but the specifications manual I received from Chevy on my 79 states the following for ground clearance:
Front bumper to ground - 10.8"
Rear bumper to ground - 11.8"
Bumper to ground - front at curb mass. (wt) - 11.1"
Bumper to ground - rear at curb mass. (wt) - 12.8"
Rear axle differential to ground - 5.7"
Min. running ground clearance - 4.3"*
*cat. conv. constitutes min. run grd. clear.
This is the only reference to ride height I can find.

Did tightening the outer bolts lower your rearend?
As you can see from my sig. that I have the same problem.
Thanks
Tony
