I  have a 80 corvette and I can not seem to find the trailing arms. can someone show me what they look like? I looked in the rear at the wheel and I just dont see it. What is that bar in the rear that is the size of a pipe the size if a quarter and runs from wheel to wheel? I think the bar goes up and down. looks like a long bar with the ends bent toward the real wheel

Frank, The bar sounds like a stablizer bar. You get that with the "Gymkhana suspension" option.
The trailing arms come out of the frame just inside each rear wheel from where the frame turns up behind the seats to the wheels. The 1/2 shafts from the differential go to them. From what I have read some people put on off set ones so wider tires don't rub on them. Only about a foot or so long. Supplier catalogs show pictures of them.

Frank,

They are also called rear control arms.  They are the arm that runs parallel to the frame that your wheel & brakes are bolted to.

From the rear, you can see where the half shafts & rear spring are connected to the trailing arms.

You can buy the offset trailing arms..........but you have to be capable of doing a lot of work.......needing presses etc. You can buy complete 2" offset trailing arms (expensive). Check out Van Steel. Specializes in repairing and rebuilding Corvette rear wheel bearing assemblies, and selling Corvette rear wheel bearing parts.
