HEY! My garage floor is spotless. Well, except for the little drips of oil underneath the vette right now. Oh, and the smattering of dirt knocked loose from the undercarraige. And a few dust bunnies from the car sitting there for so long now. And the trans crossmember sitting in the floor. Okay, nevermind!

An idle thought perhaps, but for starters: usually we get all pumped up to
help each other here, and we radiate good will to one another. Without
dwelling on it, the main thrust of my points are that our suggestions are
normally filtered by accumulated wisdom, honed by experience, and
aligned with the facts. In a clutch, most remain neutral, even though
occasionally some may want to throttle others.

But by now, as the heated exchanges have accelerated, and thus fueled
more of the same, the feeling must be universal: we c3vr'ers can no
longer bear any more screwing around in this thread. Without crossing
any members in particular, it's nuts enough already around this joint,
without any more tired yokes springing up and making us cranky. Having
needled each other, and panned poor Ron, we are all no doubt bored and
exhausted by--even drained from--the cycle of posts. Without
pressuring anybody, or blocking anyone's ideas, we should knuckle down
now; cooler heads must prevail, and we should put a plug in it. Our
thoughts ought to be geared to the spirit of this forum, and we must
avoid creating a vacuum of good will towards each other. It's a shock that
it got this far, and we need to shift our focus.

However, my cap IS off to those who contributed positive rather than
negative ideas.

And course, we do hope that jgoglick didn't get shafted in the end.

Due to my recent copulation of non-useful regregetated reading material I would have to place this in the foremost running of speculatory winnings.

Good news, good news! I found the missing cap in my not-quite-spotless garage. I had actually put it up on a shelf and forgot.... All of the needle bearings are intact, so I can just clean, regrease and pop that sucker back on. I think that's the first good break I've had with this car
