You'll get a lot of different opinions on tires here. We all have had different experiences.
The Firehawks, from what I've read here and other forums seem to be pretty popular and recommended by many. On my '78 I had the BFG Radial T/A's...again, very popular and well regarded. I can recommend them without hesitation.
On my '69 and another car I have Cooper tires. The Cooper Cobra is an excellent tire as well and I'm very happy with them.
I'm sure others will give other recommendations and all are welcome to do so. The one brand that seems to be unpopular here is Goodyear in the sizes that fit our Vettes. I have no experience with them, but I don't discount what the others say by any means.
The best I can say is...if you're happy with the Firehawks, stick with them.

I have Goodyear Eagle GT11s. Some people
don't like them but I really enjoy the look and performance. I only
have about 3500 miles on them so I don't know how long they will last.

Just got the Indy 500 Firehawks, 255/60 on my '82.
Good price, available and run good so far.
Some of the Goodyear and Goodrich models are scarce right now.

Larry, I have the 255-60 x 15 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 on WETVET.
They ride smooth and handle the roads well. They are also a good value.
'cept, Well you know the ruts that the trucks put in the road during the winter with the chains that they run to ruin the roads.
They are also a good value.

Well Terry I gots me some scratch n sniff cash now, pros at the tire shop says i gotts enough rubber for the trip. had him check out the spare, since we have never even opened the holders since we've owned the vette around four years, well looky there a surviver tire brand new 2ply spare from 1970, go figure. the rubber man set me up with a suitable spare that would work with what i am running and still fit in the carrier. life is good and life is fair, it will screw everyone someday.
