Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79
I posted this question a few weeks ago before the data loss. It was one of the threads that was lost. So I'll ask again. Please reply again if you already did. (Or add a new reply if you didn't before).
I'm going to need to put new tires on my Vette in the spring. I currently have Eagle GTs on it. What would be a good replacement for them? I'm looking to spend as little money as possible (of course) but still have a decent tire. Remember that I don't drive it a whole lot, and certainly don't drive it hard. I only drive in the rain if I have to because I don't have a choice. I never drive in the snow.
This is for my 79 which, according to the stats, has P225/70R15 tires.
Thanks!

BF Goodrich T/A's or Firestone Firehawks.

I had tried Goodyear Eagle GT II's and darn near piled the car up. They came off quickly after that. Horrible in the rain.

Firestone Indy 500 top rated tire for traction, durability, and rain. Lot's of great reviews on them. White letter too.

I put the Firestone Indy 500s on my '81. I did 255s all around, with no rubbing anywhere. Of course, 255s were an option on '81s. Not sure if they had fully opened up the fenderwells to allow 255s to fit as early as '79, but I suggest you look into it. The 255s look great. These tires also look great, and my experience agrees with the ratings - they stick like glue. In fact, it's hard for me to turn these tires over when I want to ;-)

I've got a set of Dunlop GT Qualifiers. I'm no officianado of the tire world, but I can tell you they wear like iron, smooth ride and no problems and actually, a few bananas cheaper than BFGs. 226/60/15s - no rub on the 79. LukesVette 2006-12-22 16:41:43

Can't beat redlines on a red vette Adam. (Coker Classics) They are Undercover BF Goodrich TA radials made for Coker.

I have BFG T/A's on my '78 and think they're excellent. On a different car (Brand X), I have a set of Cooper Cobra's. They're also excellent and worth considering.
