I'm rebuilding my '75 std. steering column and have installed a new key lock cylinder. I notice the key does not return from "start" position back to "run" position. Is something wrong? What makes the key return-something in the column or outside the column?

Thanks,
Patricia Brown

I agree, there is a linkage rod from the switch that runs down the colum, into a contact block, and I believe the spring is inside of that, I don't hink there is a seperate spring on the linkage rod so you may have to replace the ignition contact block.

Thanks guys. I just found out on a standard, non-tilt/tele column the actual ignition switch contains the spring action. I did not have a switch yet, so I ran out and bought one and found this to be true. From diagrams I think the tilt/teles do have a spring somewhere in them that also must do somthing.
Thanks, Patricia
