Topic: What tires should I put on my '70 when I sell it?
in Forum: C3 Engines, Driveline and Handling
I’m prepping my ’70 with plans to sell it in a year or so. Just wondering what brand of tire and what size of tire would be appealing to someone looking to purchase this car. They will go on the stock 8” silver rally wheels.
I know that if I ask 10 people, I will get 10 different answers. I’m not looking for a consensus; I’m more interested in getting some suggestions of what you guys like.
BTW, I currently have G60x15 on the car (stock tires were F70x15). I believe these tire sizes are equivalent to 245/60R15 and 215/70R15. I don’t want to get too carried away with big tires. The G60s look and fit nice on the car.
Thanks.

I'm assuming at 72k original owner; it's not a "survivor", but depending on how you took care of it; could be the ideal car for someone looking to do a full/frame off restoration; in which case; the buyer will put the rubbers he see fit.
If your pool of potential buyer does not include restoration guys, then instead of negotiating the price down; you tell 'em you'll put a brand new set of either; FF Indy 500, BF or Eagle GTII. All 3 look great on the car and will not run you more than 450$ shipped to your door in 3 days!
If you do decide to change the tires to make a sale; do stay very close (if not the exact same thing) as you have now. Reason is that fattier tires might rub on your parking brake cable; depending on how much clearance you have now (but I bet you have less than a 1/4"). Let the buyer have this problem (or should I say opportunity to choose what he wants).
