So my "friends" down at Goodyear put on some wheel locks at my request, except when I went to put on my new knock-offs I just got, I find that the wheel locks are a different size than the lugs. WTF? If I order wheel locks from say Corvette Central, will they be a different size so that I can use the same size lug wrench, or will I have to buy one of the 4-size lug wrenches?

Doing some further digging, I found some info that could maybe help. I read somewhere, I think on the Gorilla lug site that GM uses a standard size of 7/8" and Corvette/Camaro use a standard of 3/4" lug. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

That's one more reason I hate wheel locks. When was the last time you hear of someone actually having their wheetls stolen?

On the other hand I've had to chisel several dozen off because the owner lost the key, or never even got it when they bought the car.

I agree, from a service aspect, wheel locks are a pain.   If you have nice custom wheels, they may be worth it.

All the theives have keys and know how to get your wheels off without a key.
Never leave your Vette in a "bad" area.

Lock Nuts don't prevent wheels from being stolen..... maybe slows em down some. I believe it was Joel before that mentioned Sears sells a tool that removes the lock nuts in the event you don't have yours. So the likelihood of a person steallin wheels havin this tool is purty good.

I Have them on my C5 because the wheels came with them. I don't have them on my C3 though.

After having my garage broken into, and my daughters car broken into twwice. I think it is better to let the thieves steal what they want rather than tear the crap outta of my stuff tryin to make it theirs.Tuxblacray2008-07-10 12:29:35
