I need to get a new set of shocks, but don't know what to go with.  AC Delco are the cheapest, but I don't want a cheap ride! Is there that much difference between them and KYB or Bilsteins? As for Bilsteins, which are the stiffer ride the Sport or the H-D? There's conflicting info on different sites.

I have no experience with the Bilsteins or KYB's, but don't sell the Delco's short. They're excellent shocks. Both my '69 and '78 have Delco's and I'm quite happy with them.

I believe a lot depends on what springs you have on the car...that the ratings of the springs can determine which shock has matching charteristics.

I'd would be interested in hearing the experiences of anyone who has tried the Edelbrock IAS shocks. Not inexpensive, but I like Edelbrock products.

I have the Bilsteins that come with VBP's street and slalom kit.  I think they are the sport.  Can't exactly point out how the shocks made the ride different since I replaced the entire suspension, but as a whole they perform great and would get them again.

I newly have the AC Delcos and really like them. They seem to be designed more toward smoother ride than out and out handling (which I personally like). You can also get them "locally" and save yourself a few bucks.

I'm using the Delco "Reactec" gas shocks. I am pleased with the way the car feels and rides. I have a TRW rear mono spring as well. I don't know how those shocks would feel with a multi-leaf steel spring.

I put new delco's on my 84 along with BF Goodrich tires and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. The car rode absolutely awful up until this point.

Well, after checking several (dozen) sources, I found I could get a set of KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks, KG4550 and KG5501, for about $19 more than the Delco Gas shocks, $139 delivered! Seem like the thing to do unless someone knows something I don't. Does anyone have these shocks. If so how's the ride?

I would like to get new shocks this spring, let me know how these kyb's work out, I was going to get the bilsteins, because of previous threads on the subject,I would also like to get the fiberglass mono

spring but am reluctant on installing it myself, not that experienced in

mechanical work on cars,I've done shocks ands brakes when I was much younger

Busy day! After getting my motor and tranny mounts replaced, I put my new KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on. The old Monroe shocks were so worn out I could push them together and pull them apart with my hands. The KYB's, I had to put one end on the floor and lean hard to push them in. What a different ride! Much smoother and handles great! Like 'em.
