ARE you absolutely positively NUTS.....  lol

I put on a set of Creager Star Wire wheels on my 79 about ten years ago
and they still look great and shine like new...BUT ...what a royal pain in the rear it is to clean and polish them...hours of work (I am not kidding)...now I do one a day for 4 straight days Then Party...

I own a couple of 4 post lifts and the wire wheels would be history if I did not have a lift so I could bring the car up to eye level while sitting in a  comfortable chair to clean those suckers...

Just my opinion of wire wheels...

Vette(s): 73 coupe bought new in 1973 with only luggage rack, AM/FM radio, HD battery & Maplight as options. L48, 4 speed, Paint Med Met Blue 922 interior Dark saddle 418 special order. Repurchased 4/1/06 after 24 years.
I have a set of wires I removed from my 73 to put stock rally wheels back on it.  I would let you have them real cheap $50 each plus shipping.  I have no idea who makes them.  I can send pictures if you are interested.

I have Luxor 8"X15" Wire Wheels with Coker 235 R 15 Red Lines on Tux. The Rims were purchased from Big O Tires. I had the tires shipped direct to them for mounting.

They look great IMO. They are definately a PITA to clean.

I don't have access to a lift in my garage so in the summer I pull the wheels off if I am going to a big show and clean them. If its local I just jack it up at the tranny crossmember, slide in a couple of jackstands and cheat clean them from behind and use a tapered brush wrapped in cheese cloth to clean between the spokes from the front.

It ain't fun but I think it's worth it. Too bad I'm so far away Bob or we could party together on cleaning day...

Mothers now makes a polishing ball that is used on your drill.  It will fit into the wire spokes and looks like it will save a LOT of time and work.  Might want to check into that to go along with the rims.   They come in two sizes.  You want the small one for wire rims.

This one?

Mini Powerball

I'll give it a try O Zen Master... Current method is slow but the results are rewarding. Mind you I won't be using it to sand with....just polish!

Not quite it, but very similar.  The one I am refering to is not designed to be quite that agressive, and you don' t get sanding material.   The color is red instead of yellow.  But that's real close.  You can use any polish you want with it when cleaning or polishing.
