Hi everyone, Need help to clerify my engine. I just removed the oil pan and found that this is a two bolt main 327. All the numbers are correct along with the HT (350 hp) I would have thought that they would have been four bolt mains or is this to early a year for four bolt small blocks?
Thanks for any help, Tom

I don't know if this will help, but I just rebuilt my 79 350.
Had a 2 bolt. When I started checking the #s to see if they matched, there were 2 and 4 bolt mains for that block. I believe that it depended on where the block was made.
In any case, a 2 bolt is fine, 4 is better if you wanted to prove it's power.
My feeling is this: I enjoy doing the speed limit when everyone is in a hurry. So as they pass, they can have a look at my ride home from work. And they do.

Hi Tom,
I rebuilt my 68 327/350hp about 7 years ago. I seem to recall it having a two bolt main as well. If the pad still has the vin on it, you can be sure the motor is correct. During the hey-day of block restamping the small blocks of this vintage were ignored for the most part. The exception might be if you have something very unusual, such as a documented racer or other that would have high collector value.

I have a '68 327/350 MT block and it is also a two bolt main. Since I am the original owner that is how it came from the factory.
