They are usually on the driver side, down low inside the front fender...by the vent area...

I believe the '70 models didn't have one unless it was a California delivery car. Mine is an early build, and does not have the canister.MikeMc712008-12-05 08:13:07

Mike is correct.  I have looked at a ton of 70 material in the last couple of weeks.  Only California cars had Evaporative Emission Control, and only LT1s and L88s had A.I.R.

Who knows what went on in the heads of the engineers back then.

My 72 Lt-1 has the canister, but didn't have the A.I.R., by the book its suppose to have it, the #'s on the exh. manifolds tells me they are left and right 72 LT-1  manifolds but they don't have the hole's for the tubes, the car was built and then sold in Colorado, can't believe everything you read.

Thanks Everyone!!! I was hoping that I did NOT have to buy one more thing!! Strange that they would put an A.I.R. Pump on a L88!! or an LT1!!! but I know mine is not supposed to have that either, That I found out early on from joining this site. Thanks Again !!      Thumbs%20Up

Yes, it does mean Air Injection Reaction.  It pumps fresh air into the exhaust manifolds where they first come out of the heads.  There was always unburned fuel and sometimes oil in the exhaust, so this provided fresh air to burn it off.  If your car was running too rich, the manifolds could glow a little.
