I know this has been asked before, however I would like to know if anyone has taken a 75 350 165hp motor apart? If so do you remember if that motor is a 2or4 bolt main.I want to find out as much about this motor so I can plan the rebuild.
            Thanks Rick

My money is on it being a two-bolt. GM wouldn't waste a 4-bolt block on the low horse engines...unless there was a shortage of the 2-bolt blocks at the time...

btw...my '74 L-48 IS a 2-bolt...Adams' Apple2008-08-19 21:19:58

That's my motor.  It is a two bolt.   The L-48s were 2 bolt, and the L-82s were 4 bolt.

As Adam said: "GM wouldn't waste a 4-bolt block on the low horse engines...unless there was a shortage of the 2-bolt blocks at the time."

And you could never be sure.  It is a simple job to drop your pan in the car and take a look.  Just unbolt the idler arm from the frame, and pull it down a bit, then unbolt the pan.  Don't do like I usually do.  Instead remember to drain the oil first.  If you are planning a rebuild, you can probably put the pan right back up with the same gaskets.

And a final thought....  You can build a lot of power in a two bolt block.
