Just curious if my disconnected smog pump could be contributing to my problem. The smog pump is still attached, but no belt is driving it and there is a vacuum tube going from the diverter valve at the smog pump to the front passenger's side of the carburetor.

Could this be causing my "stalls when hot and put into DRIVE" problem?

Oh, also, I checked the number on my Q-Jet carb. It reads 7029207. So I think this carb is correct for
a '69 350/325HP Vette. It should have a 66 size main jet. Is that too small for my 327/300? I wouldn't think so if the carb is off a '69 350/325HP.

Lastly, looks like it's for a manual transmission Vette rather than an Automatic. Because I read if the last digit is odd, it's for a Manual. What's the difference between a Rochester for a manual vs on for an automatic?

Steve

Steve,
I'm not sure if you are still having problems with your QJet. There is a guy named LARS that is the GOD of QJets. He has written great articles on Qjets and tuning and he has been rebuilding these forever. He can be reached at ( V8FastCars@msn.com ). Also check this link ( http://www.corvettefaq.com ) under engine\Tuning. Great articles by LARS and others. I have a LARS rebuild qjet on mine and my vette has never run better!

take a look down the carb and with the engine off pull the throttle back to see if both jets are shooting gas into the manifold. accelerator pumps have been known to quit after being parked for a while. when cold the engine is running rich with the choke closed. Check that the choke is openning fully when the engine is warmed up.
