there are no magic bullets or beans
the only way your going to get decent highway rpm without turning your car into a gutless wonder is adding more gears.

Go out, have fun, do a bunch of burnouts until the tranny is toast. Then you have an excuse to put in a 700R4 which will solve the problem. There are a bunch of good threads on this forum on how to do that.

C3: 1979 Corvette Coupe, Auto, L-48, Red/Doeskin (my wife's fave);
C4s: 1986 C4 coupe (SCCA road race car), satin black, 4+3, Z51 package, L-98; & 1993 C4 coupe, white, 6-speed, LT-1.
WHAT`S WRONG WITH 3500RPMS @ 75MPH.... . I HAD 3.08`S BEFORE I CHANGE TO THE 3.55`s. . these gears will reduce your rpm significantly, but you`ll launch like a slug.
Switch to the 3.08 rear end and drop in a 383 stroker....both problems solved
There is no substitute for low end torque!
I LOVE MY 700R4...best thing I did after the new motor.
(Of course the C5 gets 27 - 30 MPG)

I love my 200-4R. Best mod I could have done. Now I get about 18mpg instaed of 12MPG with the TH400 and 3.55 gears

Overdrive gives you the best of both worlds.
Get a price on a swap and then calculate the pay back miles.
You might be able to actually drive it to the next Gathering.

I put a 3000 stall in last winter and I am planning on swapping the tranny and going down to say 2200 rpm stall with in the next year or so. I just need some time to beat on it like it is !
Performance or Gas? Does anyone do the long road trips with the high rpm set up?

The 77 is my road car.
NC to Cleveland to St Louis, several trips to Bowling Green, 3500 + RPMs all day!
