I finally broke down and bought that vette. Well now I need to get up to speed on it. When I purchased the car the owner said it had a 383 Stroker in it. Due to the 383 and the 350 having the same block how do determine if it is or not. It doesn’t make any difference to me if it’s a 383 or not I just want to confirm what I have.

Pull a head off and measure the bore & stroke. If the stroke measures over 3.48", it's probably a stroker.
Or if you know any tech inspectors at a local race track, you could ask them to check cylinder volume with one of their gizmos. They do that at one of our local tracks to make sure nobodys cheating.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
Mark, I would begin by checking my block casting numbers. It's possible that you might have a 400 block. Most decent engine builders us a 400 balancer on the 383 stroker.
Take Sarge's advice and have the stroke checked. If it's a 383 stroker, the stroke should be 3.75.
