I ordered a oil pan from Corvette America  Part # 45015 56-79
oil pan 4 qt small block orange. It looks to me the stamping of the mainting surface, where the oil pan will mate to engine block is incorrect. The dimples are raised instead of recessed. Someone from the manufacture says it doesn't make a difference.

I found it. Just had to modify the #. There is no pic on the website, so I don't know exactly what you are describing. Are you talking about the "ribs" along the sides of the pan rails? Do they actually stick up, toward the block? That don't sound right to me, either. Would be nice to have a pic!! I'll look at some other sources...Adams' Apple38842.7888194444

Looks OK to me. The pic is not exactly what I had pictured in my head.
Make sure, tho, that you use a normal, cork gasket, not one with the stainless steel insert, a paper type, or rubber gasket. Do not use any type of sealant on the gasket, but make sure the pan and the block are very clean/dry. Be carefull not to over tighten the small, 7/16" bolts, and spit the gasket out.
I'll agree that most of the time, the ribs will point down, but not always. I think you're OK with this one.

I have seen pans like that many times.  Not a problem.  Follow Joels advice.  Or just use Silicone sealer, and no gasket.  That's what some of those pans were installed with.  I still prefer a gasket.
