Ben (me) is quite a bit behind KEN...

but I agree with ken.

I cant imagine any circumstance where putting headers on a car would reduce the idle.

I can imagine that with an old CAT that you might not get any significant benefit from headers... but if your CAT is that bad it needs to be replaced/removed anyway.

l00l Guys, A long thread but its coming to an end. I agree with you guys, I didn;t really think that guy knew what he was talking about, but since I am a NuB I figured I should ask first. I'll talk to meh daddi later on and see what he thinks. As for the headers I can work for a 3-4 months later on and buy the headers from jegs or somewhere else. My dad wont let me buy anything untill the engine gets rebuilt at that place for $895. I'm sorry I mistyped the tax is 7.50%*** not 7.20% I'm gonan have to work my a-- off to get all the parts regardless of where I get them from. I have $208.67 in the bank my next check should be $246 before taxes. and the next check after that should be around the same. So... I'ma bit behind on the rebuild, they want half up front and then after 7-8 days they want the other half so is hould be able to do it fine. But thanks guys... shark keep those headers man, seriosuly after my 6th or 7th check I'll be able to get em off you, after the engine gets rebuilt. I"ll tell my dad so we cna look at the drive train after we clear some crap out of the garage, thats the first thing we gatta do.

Thanks guys
-Louis

Louis,
Welcome to this registry and the world of Vettes. You have been given some great advice and are taking it with a great common sense head. Hard to believe you are only 16. Enjoy every moment you have with it, working on it, and finally driving it. You may own many more in your lifetime. A lot of us here had to wait till we were older and had the extra money to afford it. Cudos to you! |bouncy| |bouncy| |thumb| |saluteflag|

WAY too much tax. 6.275 here.

Just keep in mind the long term goal when you do the rebuild. But I think the present plan is a good one.
After all these years I have the same problem with my car as you do with yours. Lack of Cash! |eek|

Carry on young man, carry on. |thumb|

Heh. Yes I am 16. I think thats every Average hard working American's problem. NO MONEY! L00L. I decided to stick to my plan. I don't think the headers will come as a problem if I take the cat off. You guys are prob going to hate me for this; but: I have a 1929 Ford Model A tudor sedan edition. My dad and his dad rebuilt it in the late 80's. The registration my grandmother signed over to my dad, and weve been storing it for years, but never registered it. We live in Nevada now nad the DMV is a bunch of hard a--es, we had a guy come out and look at the Vette so we can register it, as beign that its not drivable. We asked him about the MODEL A, he seent he engine and the VIN # on it is not the same as on the title. Is there another location on the car where its at? It will be kind of hard to register it without the matching VIN.

Thanks
-Louis

Thats not bad, we pay almost 9% in TN. I think its actually 8.85 or something like that. I try to avoid paying it since I live on the TN/KY line. In KY its only 6%.

Go on yahoo yellow pages for Akron Oh and talk to the guys at Atlas Body. They have restored some old Fords, and placed high in National competition. They may know where the numbers are at.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of variety! I have a '29 A model vintage rod (roadster) I'm building it back after the vette is done!
It has a "Horseless Carriage" title too!
