I just bought my 69 vette with a 350 350 hp engine 6 month ago I been having a little problem in keeping the valves adjusted, and their is a noise in the valve train, So i was going to pull the heads and have them redone or buy some aluminum, the engine has been rebuilt it has a about 4000 miles on it, Any suggestions would greatly appreciated.

with aluminum heads you can bump your compression up to 10 to 10.5:1 on pump gas with no detination. Depending on what style pistons you have you can buy your heads with a combustion chamber to match the ratio you want. Airflow Research heads have chambers from 54cc to 78cc and there are different thickness head gaskets to help dial in a compression ratio as well. You'll probably want to stay with a 170cc intake runners to keep your torque curve up high.

Thanks I am going to a place tomorrow called airflow Devopment here in Largo. I am supposed to have 11:01 compression now if they rebuilt the engine back to factory specs like they said. the only thing they did different was put roller rockers and cam set up.
Thanks

Anything, but Stock and more mods to come!

Let me know if it works out on the heads. I have a set of aluminum heads (Holley) that are brand new, just out of the box that I will sell at a really good price.

I just had my original 350 and iron heads rebuild; bored 30, larger valves and pistons rated at 10.25:1 with the 76cc heads. Also put in mds ingnition. So are you saying I might not be able to use pump gas???

it all depends on how you want to run it. turn your timing down low enough and you can run on any gas..
i run 10.25 just fine on 93 octane with fairly agressive timing.

Our setups look almost identical, so I hope I can find good gas here. BTY I just found a shop today that will do an engine dyno on the engine before I put it in the car. I was a little concerned because I really did not know what I was doing when I bought all the parts for the engine before I had it rebuilt. So, I want to make sure it runs perfect before I put it in the car...
