Hey everyone,
You guys have been around these cars and engines for a while, how much HP and torque do you think I'm running (approx) with this car? The PO had a bunch of mods in there...
Supposedly balanced and blueprinted 350.
Edel Perfor. Intake
Free-flow dual exhaust
Edel 600 cfm carb (to be)
MSD 6A mated with a chromed coil (don't know what kind) going to an Accel Distrib
I was told that a "mild cam" was put in. That's all I know about the cam.
Anyone want to venture a guess? I'll take it to a Dyno once the car is up and running to my satisfaction, but curiosity is killing me :)

Since you don't say wether you want the answer in gross or rear wheel HP, I will guess you mean rear wheel. you don't mention any head work or headers so my guess is 190-250. My 427 has only 245 rear wheel HP as a stock 390 gross engine.
Hey, thank you everyone that voted! Even those people that "Didn't like to be Wrong"
.
So my next question is... how do I get it more HP out of this baby! I'd like to see some prices, and HP gains per modification that you suggest.

Imran,
How much are you willing to spend? Pick a number and the responses will make more sense as to HP gain.

Hmm, I guess I was looking more for a step-by-step master plan, but now that I think about it, it's pretty ridiculous to ask for that.
So lets say $3k on mods to get more power but set up as a daily driver. This should be interesting.

Imran,
I just bought the following for my new engine:
comp X-treme
valves and associated spings, retainers, clips etc.
pistons and rings
steel crank (used)
connecting rods (used)
fly wheel
harmonic balancer
oil pump and pick up
cam and crank bearings
push rods
I think that is it but I don't have the order sheets here at work.
Anyhow, everything was bought from a speed shop (retail ) with the total bill of $2400.00. The heads are going to cost $700.00 for machineing and the engine (454 ) cost me $850.00. I also bought a complete gasket set and heavy duty starter (used) for $125.00 ).
You will probably want to get a high rise manifold and carb ( around 700-800 for good ones. I am going to use an Edelbrock 3550 fuel injection unit ( $2200.00 ). I want that cause I am just sick and tired of messing with carbs and timing.
I am going to be putting al the particualrs in my web page here on this site along with pictures fairly soon ( see my page address inside my sig pic ). I hope to start building the engine next weekend.
Does that give you an idea of what $3000.00 can buy you?
Keep saving those 2 cents Rick

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Imran,
I just sold a perfect engine for your vette. it was a brand new LT-1, 300 HP. A complete engine, with bell housing for a 6 speed, clutch, and pressure plate. It even had all of the sensors, fi rails, Fuel Injection and exhaust manifolds. All you would have needed to get was the wiring harness, and computer. This engine had never been started, or run.
Would have looked great under the hood, too.
nice engine!!
