My two cents - I recently replaced the engine mounts in the 81 and found out there is a difference between each retailer's mount. I ended up buying locking type from Paragon. They looked and fit like the originals. Also, you might find the bolts in different lengths.
Thanks Jeff, I looked at the picture of Paragon's and they look a little different than the Eckler's mounts which we put in. I ordered a set from Paragon and we will see if that helps.

Hi Dave, I had problems with motor mounts pulling apart. Ended up with Energy Suspension from Jegs. No problems since. Also did trans mount. Dick
DaveM,
I have no technical info to provide on your recent issues with the ZZ4/Headers install. However, I just wanted to say "I'm pullin' for ya."
I'm sure it'll all come together in time.
Good luck with it!
Dave, I have a ZZ4 engine that I used Energy Suspension mounts from Summit. I also have Hooker side mount headers. The engine is in place for my trial fitment of the headers, and also to set up the side pipe mounts. I also had to fabricate a spot for my o2 sensor. So......long story short.......they fit! The heads on the ZZ4 are Edelbrock Aluminum Vortec (E-tech 170). Summit Racing sells motor mounting shims for problems that occasionally occure. Hopefully the new mounts that you ordered will solve your problems. Also as Joel already pointed out....there is a definite offset to the engine/ transmission.....moving it over to the passenger side. Chevy evidently needed room for incidentals like; steering, master cylinder/power booster, three pedals for the driver etc. Good Luck.....it'll all work out! corvette440hp 2008-01-20 10:12:57

Hi Dave, I work part time at a custom exhaust shop and we run into headers that don't fit the way they should. Some are sent back and some we have to tweak a little, if you know what I mean. Your mechanic is probably right. Contact your supplier or manufacturer for replacement. Dick

For what it's worth the photoshows two old motor mounts with the new Paragon mount and bolt in between. I tried NAPA replacement mounts and found they didn't fit too.

We have sold countless Paragon manufactured locking mounts. I used them on the Great Pumpkin. We have not had a problem. It sounds like everyone agrees that the problem is the headers, especially since he feels the head flange is tweaked. They get a lot of abuse in shipping, if they weren't already bad when they left the factory. Hooker has a good reputation, but anyone can make a mistake.
I'm going to put in the paragon mounts first and see what happens. If they still don't fit then I'll be calling Jet-Hot.
Thanks guys,
Dave

Man I can't catch a brake. I got an e-mail from Paragon telling me those mounts are on back order

Maybe I'll call Jegs in the morning, and talk to someone rather than pick something from the catalog.

I feel your pain, Dave. I had to wait for mine too for about a week or so.
Might I suggest, waiting it out ? Did you try Bairs'? Brian, I'm sure, could help. If I remember correctly, Jegs or Summit only carry solid or poly type mounts.
