I've got a pair of BB rectangular port cylinder heads closed chamber that are in good condition...anyone have an idea what they're worth. The casting number is 3919840 manufactured Jan 1968.
Thanks
Alan

I don't know a fair value on them, but square ports and closed chambers are the good ones. I'd check some Chevy parts websites and Ebay for an idea of what they're going for.
When you decide on a price (or put them on Ebay), make sure you mention the casting number and casting date. That means a lot to some people.
Besides solid lifter L71/435 hp 427 Vettes, they were also used on '67 through '69 Camaro's, Chevelle's, Impala's and Nova's with the hi-po 375 hp 396 and 425 hp 427 engines. That will widen your potential pool of buyers.
The only more valuable option heads than yours were the aluminum L89 and L88 heads.

High performance and big block castings are bringing good cash! Try some of the ads in Hemmings, there are several vendors that advertise blocks, heads, etc. You could probably just call tell them you are looking for what you have and get their price. They also buy this stuf up, they could be a potential buyer too.
I've got a 2 bolt 396 block and oval port heads I've been offered $1500 for.

These are for a 1968 car only (for anyone that will bid high).
They will fit the other big block years but as the date is January of
68 the good buyers will be looking at the date. Ive seen these go
as low as $600 a pair and as high as $2,000 if they have been
redone. A general average price that I've seen them go for is
$900 to $950. The L71 corvette buffs will want these. They
also went on some 396 engines. They are the heads I have on my car. The
400 hp tri carb builders can't use them as they have oval ports on
those intake manifolds. It seems that if they have been ported,
their value goes down. The true restorers want them
original even though the date and casting number are not judged,
as they don't remove the valve covers during judging. Hope this
helps.
Just spotted a set of 840 heads with a January 69 date. They are ebay item # 4598411498. They have a buy it now price of $1,200. I doubt they will get that, as they are bare heads and have a repair. My guess these would bring about $700 to $800. They also didn't list them under corvette which is a mistake as they are missing the corvette buyers. They listed camaro and chevelle. Also they didn't list the L71. So if you list them on ebay, make sure you cover all the bases to get the best price.
