okay then my recommendation is this..

I think youll want good low end torque to compensate for the 3.08.. but you wont sacrifice much HP..

you may want to look at my setup..

I ported and polished my heads.. changed the seats, vavle job, etc.

this is alot cheaper than buying new heads..

then I used a comp cams magnum 270H and an edelbrock airgap rpm and speeddemon 750

if i had it to do over again.. i would have used a voodoocams 268/276 hydraulic roller..

get some decent roller rockers..

mine produces a very nice 488hp@5500 and 534ft lbs@2500

with the voodoo 268/276 the hp goes up around 10 and the torque around 18..

this is nothing to sneeze at... a good balance of power and torque.. this would be a relatively cheap upgrade..

as for distributor.. Myself and quite a few tohers here like the MSD pro billet with tach drive.. and the MSD 6AL controller and blaster SS coil..

on the carb.. you can really use anything.. i really like my barry grant demon 750 but the holley street avenger is very nice as well.. for a more "drivable car" i would go witht he holley

Don't go overboard on the cam as you won't be happy with the idle and vacuum. Moderate is OK.

Very very good point. I have .600 lift in my cam and were talking almost no vacuum at all.
Be careful there.

Which I beleive you stock vetters use vacuum for brake boosters, headlights, and a multiple of other things.

Ben (and others) would the voodoo 268/276 be considered a mild cam?
What about a top end kit? what would be included in this?

the 268/276 would be considered high mild/low moderate

I found in other cars that the most drivable high power cars featured maximum attention to air flow (porting and port matching gaskets, max flow exhausts, headers etc). Didn't make big horsepower gains but car is a dream to drive on highway and very manageable on the street. C3 has a lot of sensory overload with cam package, found hard to get a girlfriend to ride in it. She stayed on the edge of her seat all the time.

Did you stay with stock suspension set up on your rebuild? I am contemplating a new spring and have the 9 leaf job now.
