Ben and Ken,

I did a search and could not find where you differed with the timing/advance suggestions from Lars.  Can you point me to it, as I just want to learn.

Also, mine's an '81 (HEI), so I assume about the only things I can do to affect timing are to set the initial/base timing, change chips in the ECM, or ditch the distributor for a non-ECM controlled one.  Right?

Vette(s): 1972 Coupe Anything, but Stock and more mods to come! SSBC Force 10 Brakes, 3.73, TH350, 355 CID, Rack and Pinion, Vette Brakes suspension front and rear.
Actually, MSD, Accell, Crane and some others offer a performance module that goes inside the HEI distributor.  The offer a hotter spark, more dwell time, and a more aggressive timing curve with out the hassle of installing an ignition box.
