Yes Larry, my beast is running at the moment. I just got it back together week before last. It was fouling out #7 plug so I thought I might have warped a valve when I broke the rocker arm stud. We took the heads off and had them checked but everything was fine. The speed shop seemed to think the intake gasket was the culprit.
I see you have a 1/4 mile time on yours. That's why I was asking about your gears. I was invited by corvettes international to a test & tune at the track last fall. Like an idiot, I went out there with street tires and darn near hit the wall when it changed into 2nd gear. The car broke traction, threw the left side of my head against the window, then threw the right side of my head against the rear view mirror. When I finally got control of the car, I never hit the gas again. It scared me so bad I went through the lights at 40.8 MPH. Atleast i set a new track record....the slowest.

THAT`S A FUNNY STORY, GLAD YOU AND THE CAR ARE ALRIGHT THOUGH. GOOD NEWS `81. SEEMS LIKE US 383`RS LIKE TO BREAK THOSE ROCKER STUDS. MINE LIKES TO BREAK LOOSE TO THE LEFT TOO. FIND AN OPEN PARKING LOT ON SUNDAY MORNING AND LET HER RIP, THAT WAY YOU`LL LEARN HOW YOUR CAR HANDLES. THE POWER IS AWESOME THOUGH. GOOD LUCK AND BE SAFE

Wow Jim ! Broke a rocker and almost your head
I can see why you didn't want to add a NOS scar in the mix. (is that like NASCAR ? ). I've been using street tires too, but the Auto trannie doesn't break-em loose as easy. I did pick up some hoosier slicks, but need to find 18"rims to put them on. Yeah the power IS awesome for sure !! Can't even imagine 250 more HP of NOS.

My car is an automatic too but it will definitely brake traction when it changes into 2nd gear, but usually pulls pretty straight. I think the problem was the track. Since it was only test & tune day and there wasn't many cars running, they never cleaned the track. As for the NOS, i've never sprayed it and after that incident at the track, I probably never will.

Jim, what is your compression ratio?
I've got 10.5:1 so I'm using 92 octane all the time.
I'll put the NOS in after Carson City, but still need to
figure out what MSD components I need to limit RPM
and retard the timing when the nos kicks in. I saw a
nice nos purge kit with blus led's to light up the gas,
or maybe red led's to match the car
.

My compression ration is 9.6:1. I use 92 octane but I always add the 104 octane booster. My NOS is set up on a chip. At full throttle it kicks in at 2300 RPM and out at 6000, spark retard 4 degrees. I have never flipped the "on" switch, but that's the way it suppose to work.
