still having problems with my 79 not getting a spark so I went out and
purchased an new ACCel coil and another module for the thing...
However my old coil (Accel number 140003) which has been on the car since at least 1988 only has two wires...one red one yellow...
The new Coil is also an Accel 140003 but it has a third wire...BLACK
in color ........ where does this wire get connected? without connecting it the car did start but ran REAL CRAPPY...then would not fire at all...
think I fried another module...and while I am picking up a new one buy a Compacitor also...
Any clue...?

Does this blk wire have an "eyelet" terminal on the end of it? If so, it should be put under one of the screws that hold the coil into the cap, usually on the left, front corner. This is where the "strap" that goes under the coil, goes.(to the center connector, between the the red and yellow terminals, in the cap, where the connector plugs in)
The coil HAS to be grounded.

Car STARTS & runs ......actually started it 3 times..no hesitation at all...
And no sign of a miss....since it is raining like hell I did not take her out to really see how strong it ran....
Got the solution ...and got the car running within 5 hours of asking the question.....
Is there any doubt that this forum is worth its weight in gold...
and another time I am damn Glad I belong...
