Just placed an order with Bowtie fo a 200R4 trans. Any one do this swap? I got hooked up with the "while I have the motor out" bug. I like to take the car on long road trips and wasn't to happy with 11mpg and the 3200rpm at 70mph. |saluteflag|

I don't have any desire to change the 4 speed in the '69. I get 15 mpg holding as close to a steady 70 as I can. ( 308 gears at 2850 rpm - of course there in no guarantee my tach is accurate ). I hope the mpg goes up a little when I put the fuel injection on it.
You will love the overdrive. My '93 gets 25 mpg at a steady 70 mph at around 1500 rmp. (again assuming the tach is accurate)

I Have a Bowtie 700R4 phase II setting in my basement. I ordered it a few weeks ago. Their support people have been great so far. I'm waiting to save enough money for my ZZ4 upgrade. I thought if I was putting 355 hp under the hood, I needed something other that my stock 350 trans. I havent installed anything yet, I did bolt up their crossmenber, just to see how it would fit, the bolt holes lineup perfect, I havent tried the trans yet (No Engine!!)

Could I ask what the price was on the trans? I am looking to get an upgraded (stronger) 700R4 for my 80, and I am looking for recommendations.

One point not to forget is that the 700R4 is longer than the TH350. Either you need to get your original driveshaft cut and rebalanced, or, since the '82 came from the factory with a 700R4, try to find an '82 driveshaft at somewhere like Carlisle, and the install will go much smoother.

Also I recommend that you use a polyurethane trans mount for the rear crossmember. The trans yoke is moved farther back in the tunnel and the clearance is quite tight. Under harder than stock acceleration the yoke may rub the tunnel, which is a real wake-up call!!!!

Took her out for a test drive today. RPM's are alot lower than I thought they would be. |smile| Better gas milage. Shifts good, Hope to take for a real drive tomorrow. Still have to put the console baxck together and hook up headlamp actuators. She really needs a wash/wax. I am just happy the motor and trans work. Should make the drive to Bowling Green, Ky. a lot better.
