I'd like to get more information on this. How's it done?

that is one way of going about it. But if you really think about it, it may not be. A used elec. tack $50.-100., shop time for the guy who doesn't work on his own car,$50-100.hr. to pull the dash and center cluster. It took me 6 hrs. the first time, that doesn't include time spent on cussing and paint touch up.Wire the new tach, reinstall dash, cluster, now you have two different speedo and tach gauges and a tach cable to no where if you didn't pull it. Now compare that to dropping in the dist., hooking up the tack cable, running a switched 12 volt wire from the fuse box to a hidden kill toggle and out to the dist. That $225. more is starting to look cheap, wood you say?

I guess it comes down to what your situation and what your comfort level is with your car. I've taken the dash off several times, and I need to get back in there to replace some bulbs anyway right now. I'd definitely do the install myself, and I'd switch out the speedo as well, both of my units are not working properly. The tach b/c of the wire obviously, and the speedo jumps about 30 mph either way, and the odometer never worked in the first place...
ah, the fun of working on a Vette :)
