what are you really wanting to do with the car..

good balance between torque/hp curves

good hp curve, good torque curve, high peak on either one.

you can get a good sound any number of ways.

The rocker studs are pressed in so you don't want to get to radical, unless you change to screwed in ones. Like Ben asks, what are you wanting to do with your car?

I just want to have a better sound while idling, nothing too radical, I have had several vette's, this one is for driving not racing. I promised my wife. Gene

if you want a better sound..  change the mufflers, install headers, or both.

Gene, just a suggestion.

I have a Comp Cams High Energy Hydraulic cam in my 74 L48.  It has a good, somewhat choppy, idle and is not so wild that you can't drive it on the street.  It is Comp Cams part number 12-210-2, grind #268H.   I also put on a pair of Magnaflow mufflers, and between the two, you can tell its not a stock engine.

Gene, I recently put a comp cam, lifters etc. in my 74. I also have Hedmann headers and dynaflow mufflers. The car is very streetable, nothing radical at all, but it not only runs extremely well, it sounds fantastic
