Anyone have a suggestion on cam specs for 454.............I will probably use the stock intake and exhaust manifolds. Like to get over 400 hp, its a 1970 4 speed car.

 Go to Comp Cams web site and download their Cam Quest down load. Put in all your engine specs they bring up all cams you are looking for. Its neat the even dyno each cam with horsepower and torque specs.

Well, it's gonna take more than just a cam to get that kind of HP. You'll also need to do something with the intake manifold, and the exhaust, such as headers. I'm assuming you have the original, 390hp engine. A cam, by itself, probably won't get that extra 20+ hp you seek, but add in a nice intake, carb, and headers, and that will probably put you right up there where you wanna be.

Your stock exhaust system is the same one they used on the high HP (up to 500 HP) big blocks, so if you have a correct system, you are OK there.  If you are only looking for 10 or 20 HP, you should call Comp Cams and ask their advice.  I bet they have a cam that will do that for you.  Since you have to take the intake off to change the cam, you might want to replce the intake with one of the better original ones if you want originality, or call Edelbrock for their recommendation.  Carburetors are being discussed on another post, and they seem to agree that the best thing is to rebuild your Q-jet.  It can support 500 HP.
