Vette(s): 1981 Coupe Charcoal Metallic 4 - speed
Looking into changing tha cam in my 81 4-speed coupe. Have been told that if I go to radical that it would screw up my ECM (computer) readings. Does anyone out there in C3VR land have any idea how big of cam I could go to and not have any ECM problems. I'm running a performance chip in the ECM and will also go to a roller tip rocker when I do the cam swap. Hoping to gain about 20 HP. ZAL81

Vette(s): 1973 Coupe - was L82, auto, air, standard interior. Now has 1987 350 TBI, 700r4, 4:56, Fiero seats, new interior, PPG base/clear (BMW Hellrot Red), Alloy wheels, chambered exhaust, headers, small cam, interval wipers, cruise, front spoiler.
Not sure how big you can go, but I put a larger cam in my 1973 which is really a 1987 350 with TBI and it seems to work fine. I think it's a matter of picking a streetable cam. If it wouldn't run nice with a carb then it's probably not a good choice with the ECM. At least that seems logical. |ohwell|

Vette(s): 1981, 4 speed manual, "competion yellow" exterior; interior being colourcoded yellow & grey; under bonnet being painted, chromed and polished. photos coming of customised sound system.
Hi, I am from Australia and I also have a 1981, 4 speed manual. I don't use my computer anymore as I fitted a 780 Holley carby and the computer is not needed. In the future I am going to be changing the camshaft so I will look to see what you have chosen and if it is successful.
