Carb (electric choke) ??

 I was doing some checking and reset the timing today after my intake gasket overhaul and noticed the car was idling way to fast, even after it had warmed up. The blades should have opened up and dropped the linkage down from fast idle to normal idle, but it did not, Checking the electric choke, I measured only 3 volts at the terminal, where it should be 12. 
 The HOT wire was connected to the blower relay on the passenger side firewall but I need to move this to a different power source that has power with the IGN switch on.
 Just wondering for those running an electric choke, where they are tapping power from.

IT would normally come from a fuse in the fusebox, I believe....
Run your wire into the cabin and connect it to one of the "ACC" terminals there. That should take care of it.

 That was my where I figured I'd end up as well, but thought there maybe some "TAP" in the engine bay I could use.

 Fixed..
 
 Found a vacant IGN socket on the fuse box and routed to there and now have a full 12 Volts when the IGN switch is on.

BUBBA must have wired this to the blower relay so unless the blower is on full, there is not 12 volts. Lowest blower speed was generating 3.5 volts, so that's what my readings were. Go figure Wits End

It all works as it should now, so no more 3spd electric choke mod.
 The car had a Holley 8025 on it when I got the car in late 2009. Driving it back then with the Holley, at low speeds it acted like it had a flat spot or something in it and prone to cutting off then motor at times..  A potetial dangerous thing to happen so  that's when I swapped on an Edlebrock.
 I guess if I get bored, I'll swap the Holley back on and see how it runs some day. The Holley looks to be fairly new and also has a electric choke..

I have a newer ,parts house, rebuilt quadrajet the choke takes forever to pull off. but it will eventually idle down on its own. any way to adjust it for a shorter choke time

The choke is adjustable. Depends on what type of choke it has as to how to adjust it, tho.
Does it have a large, round, black plastic cover on the side of it or not?
If so, does it have rivets holding the cover on or screws?
If screws, loosen the 3 screws off until the plastic cover will turn. This is the adjustment for the choke. You will see on the cover arrows pointing one way for "Lean", and the other way for "Rich". You want to turn the plastic cover a couple of notches to "Lean", and see how that works. It may take a couple of tries to get it just right.

IF the cover has rivets holding it on, you'll need to drill the rivets out, and replace them with small screws, and then do the adjustment as above.
