Well I worked on tuning today. I re-adjusted my Sean Murphy Induction Q-JET. I do this so infreqently that I almost have to re-learn the basics each time.
I set the idle and adjusted the mixture screws to get maximum vacuum. I ended up with about a 950 RPM fairly smooth idle in drive and 19.5 vac. with both screws out 1.5 turns. It still smells a little rich but when I go in even a quarter turn the vac slightly drops so I think this is the right spot.
I noticed on the test drive that normal acceleration off idle is responsive but that when I punch it, there is a one second delay in the secondaries kicking in. What else should I adjust? The choke pulloff (not sure what effect this has)? Air door tension (not real confident on this adjustment either)? This carb also has an adjustable part throttle (APT) screw to fine tune the cruise (I have not adjusted this as it is fine tuning and I don't think I am ready yet).
Is there a good carb tuning reference on here somewhere?
