bay the way, it also has a tag on it saying that it was rebuilt.

My 79 vette, has lots of TLC now ;-)

Vette(s): 1978 corvette 383ci auto yellow good condition

I have a 78 350ci auto it had a Rochchester Qjet as the original carb.
I'm pretty sure this was the standard for 78/79.
Last year I had a Holley 600 1850S fitted which has made my
vette performance improve.
The only problem for me has been sticking float needles on the
Holley causing flooding but I think I have just been unlucky,
usually this does not happen.

MY 74 HAS A CARTER AFB ON IT. THOUGH I AM NOT SURE THAT IT IS FACTORY, I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN CHANGED. THE CARB DOES NEED REBUILT AND I AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN DO IT CORRECTLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CARTER WAS A STOCK CARB ON THE 74. SO WHO IS RIGHT? NOW I AM CURIOUS. ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE?

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
I remember reading an article about Carter and Rochester carburaters. I think Carter Q-jets are the same as Rochester Q-jets. Supposedly they are exactly the same. I'll see if i can find it. |cool|

Quadrajet Tech

As a service to Dallas Area Pontiac Association members and in the spirit of the Pontiac Southern Nationals, this article has been prepared with the hope that it will help enthusiasts optimize their Quadrajet carbs for performance. In my opinion, Quadrajets are the best four barrel carburetor ever produced, but lack of information on how to tune them has resulted in many enthusiasts replacing them with other types of carbs. While hundreds of articles have been written on Quadrajets, very few actually give specific combinations that perform well on street/strip applications. It should be noted that Rochester designed the Q Jet, and built most, but during times of very high usage, Carter also built Q Jets for Rochester, and to Rochester specs. Carter and Rochester Q Jets are identical in design, operation, and parts usage.

(There is a long article about the two carbs, e-mail me and I'll send it to you )blk79
