Does anyone know of any manufacturers who make ceramic coated headers for a
big block that will connect to factory '69 sidepipes without having to make up
special pipes to go between the headers and the sidepipes? I am sure they would
have to be "shorty" headers. Think the hp and torque gain it will be worth it?

Glen, the only one that makes headers for the side mount exhaust is Hedman, they are the shorty stlye that are turned out towards the side. You may be able to either 1 do the coating yourseld, they do make products that you can purchase, coat and bake, you could bake in a regulat oven, I'm sure the wife will be happy to hear this. I haver heard some of these products are very good, if yo need more info i can try to find out. Also you could possibly hpurchase these headers from Hedman and have them sent to either Jett HOtt and or another coating place, other than that possibly someone like Stal oe there are other fabricators but the cost is OH MY GOD out of thjis world, probally in excess of 1000 bucks.

Hi Glenns ,,, Jet hot coatings are offered by a number of header companies . In fact you will find that getting them already coated is less expensive than purchasing headers and having them done yourself . The coating used used by jet hot
is excellent and well worth the price !

Wow! They were fast responses...thank you. If I read them correctly, the ony
headers that will fit will be Headman and I should be able to get them coated by
a second party. I am begining to think that they may not actually be worth the
price. Could I be looking at $700 to $1k for the headers and coating? I believe
I will only pick up 10 to 20 gross hp which translates to only about 7 to 15 at
the rear wheels. Do all these numbers sound about right?

Glenn, you may have misunderstod some of the infor mation I gave you, the Hedman headers will probally be around 100 bucks, they will not be coated, you could ask them if they have provisions to do it and or just purchase the headers, then send them out to have them coated, probally another 1 to 2 hundred bucks. Hope that helps.

I also have heard, I didn't say i agree with but have heard that they "short" headers stlye headers that go into the side exhaust could actually decrease horse power, because they are short, and unequal length, also the side exhaust could decrease horse power becasue of back pressure. Like I said I do NOT agree with that but there are some people on others forums that seem to think that, just my .02 cents worth.
