How do I do it? I've never changed plugs on anything other than a newer Corolla....it looks like the plugs are on the bottom of the engine. Will the car need to be lifted to get to them?

Any suggestions or advice?

You can access all of them from the top. If your '76 has the smaller, R4 A/C compressor, it is even easier. If not, the front two plugs on the pass. side can be gotten to thru the fenderwell area with a long extension, if you find it hard to get to them from the top.
If you have a way to get the car up in the air, it can be easier to get them all from the bottom for some folks. I prefer to do them from the top, but that's me. Get yourself a 5/8" wobble sparkle-plug socket. You'll be much happier in the end.
The very back plug on the pass side can be a pita...just depends on your patience level.
Always do this when the engine is cold...

I might add that there may be a shield covering the back two plugs unless somewhere in the past they were removed and never put back on. Should be 2 wing nuts holding them on. I change my plugs from the top side too. Its not that hard but I have the R4 compressor
