So I still have my hesitation, I checked the plugs to make sure all was connected, rechecked the firing order, thats all good. Put my trusty Champion spark plug pen on the wires when car was running to make sure wires were sending voltage to the plugs (love that antique pen) seperated the #5 & #7 wires to make sure they are not cross fireing.

When it's in 3rd gear overdrive (Auto) and has any slight hill to climb it bucks slightly, no back fires, if I shift it down its better.
Had the tops off the other day (took ebo woman to lunch topless) I could here a chirping sound matching the tune of the RPM's of the transmission.........
So now I'm thinking I may have knocked a vacume line off...or the "Rook" cut one of my hoses.
Thoughts.............I know Joel nuttin a match can't fix!

Bucking, May be the carb. It is called a "Tip in stumble". Worn carb at a certain RPM. Gas at the top of the plate does not match the vaccume at bottom, or vice versa. Solved mine with a re-build.
The chip could be a "U" joint goin bad/dry. Rock it back and forth on flat ground by hand and see if ya feel any grateing or roughness in the tire or driveline. DO NOT run it with tires off the ground, NOT GOOD for the half shafts/U-joints. Then do a process of elimination.

Mark I was thinking carb, this car sat for so long it may have some gumming or crude comming loose now that it's getting some miles on it. I'm going to try and look at it today after work. I'll see if I can here the chirping while its in park. All U- Joints are original...........Maybe you need to come up a few day's early at the end of the month.....

Why waste a match?
A "chirping" noise, along with the bucking/hesitation, kinda sounds like an EGR issue, but it could very well be a vacuum leak...somewhere. Your mission, Mr. Phelps, should you decide to accept, is to find said vacuum leak, and repair. As always, if you, or any of your vacuum impossible crew should be found and fixed, we shall disavow any knowledge of your existence....
And...maybe check the carb baseplate/gasket...
A 3 speed overdrive?

The tip in as Mark puts it is a setting in the carb that is done with those GM tools..I don't have....the stumble very well may be the egr valve not fully closed or maybe slightly stuck open..plate off the egr and see if it goes away..

My first parade at Carlisle 2010
Heh Rich, thanks..."plate off the EGR"? Do you mean remove and block hole in valve cover?
