What are the considerations I need to know to make the right choices on heads. I know for my needs I need a head that flows well between 1000 - 5000 rpm's to match my cam, but what really affects all this. How do I match the proper size valves, the correct cc chambers and the best intake runner size for my motor.
My drawback on vortec heads is the valve cover hold down clamping and the need to buy another intake. (I already bought an edel 2101 but if needed I can) At this time I am only looking at vortec and world heads, however I am open to other suggestions. Does it benefit me to send my heads out or are they just not a good head to start with. (1974 350CI 195 HP)
Are there other things that should go into the decision? I want to make sure that I only have to do this one time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i have been an ase cert mech for over 20 yrs and i have found that for the cost off doing your heads and kepping things orig as possible is always best you can spend 600 on your heads and have as good a product as you could by for 1,200 if all you want is lower to mid range power a good port job , heavy springs , de-shroud the valves and put a good set of roller rockers and you got loads of bottom end and mid range power
