So I "think" my stalling when hot problem on my '68 Roadster may be caused by incorrect timing.
Can someone tell me exactly what my timing should be set at? My books all say different things. But going my the '68 Owner's Manual that came with my car, it could be 4degBTDC, 6degBTDC or 4degATDC for a 327/300 with automatic transmission (TH400). The 6degBTDC timing is if you have the #1111194 distributor. How is this distributor different from the others?
Thanks,
Steve

i don't know what the different distributer is but my guess that the mechanical advance weights are curved differently. what do you have your timing set at now. i don't thing it that critical as long as you don't have it set too far retarted- it will run bad or too far ahead- it will ping and start hard when hot. i myself run it advanced as far as it wil go as long as it dosen't ping and will start fine when hot. don't bother putting a light on it, i have always run all my cars that way

Factory timing settings are often not correct for maximum performance. Settings generally are set more for emissions . Here is a link for you to look at, it's a no-nonsense method of setting the timing and distributor curve for performance. Hope this might help.
