About the question about the performer rpm airgap with a edelbrock 750 cfm carb which is basically the same, I currently have that setup and it fits under the hood of my 1979 vette. You will not be able to use the stock air filter housing, You will need a drop base filter housing. My drop base hit the electric choke coil so I massaged (dented in) the base a little bit so that it clears. This modification is invisible once the filter is in place.

Thanks for all the great responses so far. I am more concerned with engine quality and customer satisfaction than price (within reason). This is a big dollar purchase and I want to be sure it is quality and is delivered as represented.
On the intake, the performer EPS is an option but one of the setups I was looking at used the RPM Airgap 7501. Glad to see that the RPM Airgap will fit under the hood by using a drop base air cleaner. This keeps more options open.

I happen to live near the engine factory and have visited their facility. Quality shop, parts and people. A bit out of my price range now but I wouldn't hesitate in the future if I wanted a reliable build. They will also build to specs. Give Matt a call. Fran

Hi All, all the crate engines I looked at allready had intake an carb for the price you mentioned, unless you are going to tear the new engine down to replace it.
I start my new job at an engine rebuilding shop in Nashville on Monday
morning. They started out building engines for some of the NASCAR
boys back in the 60's in a very small shop and have grown into a very
large shop covering 3-4 buildings with over 60 employees, so they must
be doing something right.
