OK this is getting old, but, Now I gotta know! Just went out to check my head casting #'s and my oil fill is on the front right side of engine (i have the L46/lt1 cast aluminum  valve covers) My engine is a base 300 hp unit so I am sure I should have the pressed steel valve covers but anyway I could look in and see # 3927186 actually it looked like 3927188, I got a little nervous and rechecked and you could just barely make out the difrence between the 6 and the 8...but...I have the correct head i guess...on the passenger side anyway! My temp sending unit is on the front of the LEFT head (drivers side) is this correct?? seams strange because the right rear ignition shield has the hole in it for the temp sending wire to go into....SO if mine is correct with the temp sending unit in the front left.......is my right side crome ignition shiled still correct even though the temp sending wire wont be going in there???  Could they have just used this type shield  and the fact that there was a hole not used  was of no issue............seams strange BUT????Confused THANKS!!!!

That head # 3927186 is the same as my 70.

Must be the right one cause we checked all the #'s and they are all correct.

As far as I know, all of the pass side shields had the hole for the temp sender...
