Got the distributor in the other night..just chucked it in and did an earball on it..ran pretty good..checked the timing friday night..35 dwell..8 intitial..not bad..set it at 30 dwell and turned out 14 initial gave me the 18 vacuum and 36 mech advance I was looking for..total for 47...ok now the car really runs..went sideways on a turn on the way home from a local vette club show Sunday..and I barely hit the gas..oh well..need to run get more blue so I can do it some more!!

I would just like to say how much I enjoy reading threads like this one.
He started with a problem many of us can assume we will have, posted his way though it and even posted pictures.
Glad its all fixed.
Thanks to all involved, I have a way greater understanding of whats happening in there!

These are fun ones aren't they...both your cars unless changed will have the tach drive in it..if it works ok it wouldn't hurt cleaning it out and putting fresh lube in there..the button I put in mine is a factory part in your cars..except I think its a plastic or rubber material..or it may have the brass button also..ya never know untill you take it apart..another thing that can be touchy is the angle at which the cable is..they sell those 90 degree thingys that are made for guys who put the distributor in 90 degrees off..the vacuum canister should point to the PS fender..which makes for a straight shot out of the distributor..getting these right really isn't all that hard..but if done wrong they can really kick you in the behind..plus they don't run as good...I love my points!

I did check that thread out also and posted in it how cool it is you picked up a 73. That Blue is a great color!
