Vette(s): 1975 Stingray Nomad Wagon, with Daytona front, custom hood scoop, dual side vents; 420HP 350; Doug Nash 5 speed; 1980 rear end W/4:11 gears; Cherry Red metallic paint.
Ok, my 74 is a numbers matching all original which I view as an investment as well as a driver. It has the original point ignition system, and i am considering upgrading it to a pointless system.
My question is: if you were in the market for this car, would it take away the value if it were done? what about if it were the under the cap system vs. HEI? thanks!

What you are doing is a very simple mod. Just save the original parts for re-installation and put the better system in the car.
I doubt the value of the car will be affected.

Just stick a Pertronics ignition under the cap. You can go back to points any time.

I think most people are concerned with the numbers. I don't really believe most people would disassemble the motor if you told them it had been rebuild but was still numbers matching. Keep the points in the rear cubby hole as a back up in case the pertronix dies on you. BTW, I have Pertronix on mine and consider it a nice little upgrade. No more adjusting points and the car seems to run smoother and start faster. |thumb|

or you could pull the whole distributor.. put it in a box and use something more modern..

no ones going to complain about the original part not being on the car.. if the parts comes with the car
